It was about 25 odd years ago when I read the phrase in a book by Australian author Keith Abraham that said something to the effect of…

“Do business the way your customers want to do business.”

It went on, and I’m paraphrasing here…

“…for example, if they want you to fax invoices to them, (faxes were the main thing back then 😉), then get a fax machine”.

That tip caused me to observe, listen to and ask questions of each individual client, and that meant getting out of the office and going to meet with them, and to learn what they expected from a service provider and how I could make it easy for them to do business with me.

It served me very well and I’ve been using it ever since, even though I’m in a completely different business today.

So, how would that philosophy, “do business the way your customers want to do business”, improve things for you?

Let me know in the comments.

To your success!
